On Wednesday, the Federal Government sacked about 21 senior
officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) among who
were directors, general managers, and deputy general managers.
According to a source at the head office of FAAN in Lagos, fewer than 10 general managers were reportedly demoted as they were earlier been improperly promoted. The government’s aim was to see to it that a good number of workers in the sector have been reduced because of the current economic recession in the country.
However, almost all the directors were said to have been affected, while a good number of them were demoted from Grade Levels 17 and 16 down to 10, 12 and 14. The acting director of finance was said to have been demoted to Grade Level 10 and redeployed to the Department of Information Communications and Technology.
